THE SINGER | SONGWRITER | PRODUCER
Kelly Lang is a prolific singer, songwriter and producer from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma but she has called Hendersonville home since moving to Tennessee as a child. Growing up in country music, Kelly’s father, Velton Lang, was the longtime road manager for superstar Conway Twitty. Being around great legends in the music business gave Kelly the burning desire to pursue her own personal music career.
As a songwriter, Kelly has had a stellar career with her songs being recorded by artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Lorrie Morgan, The Oak Ridge Boys, Crystal Gayle, George Jones, B.J. Thomas, Jimmy Fortune, Jerry Lee Lewis, TG Sheppard, and Johnny Lee, just to name a few. As a singer, she has performed and recorded duets with iconic artists such as Sir Barry Gibb, Dame Olivia Newton-John, Paul Shaffer, Lee Greenwood and more.
Kelly has recorded and released many albums throughout her career including 11:11, Shades of K, Throwback, Obsession, Old Soul, Old Soul II and her latest 2024 release, Dragonfly. She has released two albums with her husband, country music superstar, T.G. Sheppard; Iconic Duets and Chemistry. In the spring of 2020, Kelly re-released her classic children’s album Lullaby Country, which was originally released and sold in Cracker Barrel stores around the country.
In 2024, the state of Tennessee declared Kelly’s self penned hit, Under A Tennessee Moon, the official state song. Kelly was presented with a proclamation directly from the Governor, securing Kelly’s place in Tennessee’s history.
As part of a national television campaign, Kelly’s voice can be heard throughout the United States singing the song she wrote, “I’m Not Going Anywhere” for the Ascension Hospital commercial. In 2023, Kelly made her solo Grand Ole Opry debut, performing the hit song during the Opry Goes Pink for breast cancer celebration. She released her autobiography with the same title and a foreword written by her longtime friend and fellow cancer fighter, Dame Olivia Newton-John. Kelly and Olivia recorded a duet of How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, which was released on Olivia’s 2023 album, Just The Two of Us. Kelly also released the single “Life Sentence,” a song she wrote about her experience with breast cancer, which she dedicated to Olivia.
As a 20 year breast cancer survivor herself, Kelly is a a highly sought-after speaker. She brings her story of bravery, knowledge, and compassion to audiences around the country while also entertaining and inspiring each listener with her words of encouragement and the power she has gained from her own breast cancer journey.
Kelly believes that “laughter is the best medicine,” and the need for such is where the comedic side of Kelly’s talent shines. With teased up hair, excessive makeup, speaking in a sharp tongue while dripping in rhinestones, XOXO is the antithesis of the sophisticated and conservative Kelly. Aided by her husband, T.G. Sheppard, writing for the caricature of a wannabe country singer was a needed distraction during her own illness.
When Kelly isn’t on the stage, she can often be found painting. Her works of art have caught the attention of icons in entertainment like Oprah Winfrey, Sir Barry Gibb, Olivia Newton-John, Larry the Cable Guy, Jeannie Seeley and even Justin Timberlake’s mother, who all have her paintings hanging inside their homes.
Kelly Lang has many sides: singer, songwriter, producer, author, speaker, painter, and comedian. Most importantly, she is a survivor willing to share her journey with a mission to be a ray of light and hope to those that are in her presence.
